सफल उद्यमी बनने से पहले राजीव ने कई सालों तक माइक्रोसॉफ्ट में काम किया था। जब उन्होंने सलाह और राय के लिए इस पुस्तक का शुरुआती ड्राफ्ट मुझे दिया, तो मेरे दिमाग में पहली बात तो यह आई कि राजीव में कितना जोश है, जो वे अपने करियर में सीखी बातों से सबको लाभ पहुँचाना चाहते हैं ऐसी बातें जो आपको शैक्षणिक संस्थाओं में नहीं सिखाई जाती उनके मामले में आई.आई.टी., मेरे मामले में कॉलेज ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग, गिन्डी, ऐना पुनिवर्सिटी।
मैं सोचने लगा कि जब से मैंने माइक्रोसॉफ्ट में काम शुरू किया है, उसके बाद के 25 सालों के करियर में मैंने कितना कुछ सीखा है वह कंपनी, जहाँ में कॉलेज से निकलते ही नौकरी करने लगा था। यदि मुझे सारांश में अपनी सीखी 3 विशेष बातें बतानी हो, तो वे ये हैं:
(क) अपने दिल का अनुसरण करो जिस चीज़ के बारे में दिल में जोश हो, वही करो। क्योंकि तभी आप अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ काम करने के लिए प्रेरित होंगे और तभी आपका वैसा प्रभाव पड़ सकता है, जैसा आप डाल सकते हैं और डालना चाहते हैं।
(ख) अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करो चाहे आपका वर्तमान पद जो भी हो, अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करने की कोशिश करें, क्योंकि इसकी बदौलत आप उन जगहों पर पहुँच जाएँगे, जिनके आपने कभी सपने भी नहीं देखे होंगे, जिनकी आपने कल्पना भी नहीं की होगी।
(ग) सीखने की निरंतर ललक और रोमांच यह आगे बने रहने और अपनी पूर्ण संभावना तक पहुँचने का सर्वश्रेष्ठ तरीका है।
